Albany bound via Conspicuous Cliffs and also Denmark

On our way again and we are off to Albany and we wanted to do a couple of more interesting things along the way, as Albany was only to take just over an hour. On the way out of Walpole we went to Conspicuous Cliffs, which was once again spectacular coastline as well as huge swell. Back on the road and listening to the same CD's over and over again. We have Fleetwood Mac playing and now the boys just love the songs especially TUSK, and requests the volume to be turned up really loud. We have Geoff Achison on CD also traveling with us, and it's funny when he says on the CD "hello", we all say hello back. It's funny how the smallest thing just makes us all Laugh

For you Beau. Bow RIver

Mark singing the song Bow River

We were headed towards a town called Denmark and were saying to ourselves, let's go overseas to Denmark. On the way was another town called 'Bow Bridge', and there is also the river in town called 'Bow River', we had to stop for a photo for 2 reasons, the first being our nephew Beau and 2nd reason Mark wanted a singing photo next to the sign, meaning' first thing you know we'll be back in Bow River again'. For you Beau, a picture next your river. Arriving in Denmark as they have an award winning bakery, so of course we head straight for it and have an 11am lunch, well it's 1 pm back home so we are just adjusting slowly back to the times. Oh great, daylight saving on Sunday begins, so we will be completely confused or our bodies will be. Yum, this bakery was award winning we had pies sausage rolls, gingerbread men, vanilla slice, all very nice indeed and so was the price, um $50 for lunch that's not normal but we were in Denmark remember. A stroll through the streets and Dylan tried to buy himself the next book in a series he has been reading but it was out of stock. I would compare Denmark to our town back home Sorrento, very alternate. We now thought if we wanted to explore Albany we had better hop aboard the Garrett train and get moving.

Another 50 km and we are there, now where to stay, so this time we head to the information centre and Mark gets the most informative lady who explains everything and places to stay and things to see. We quickly headed to the Torndirrup National Park and to 'The Gap' and 'The Natural Bridge' a must if you’re in the area. These are two natural features carved from ancient granite by the forces of nature. The Gap features a 25 metre sheer stop to the ocean. They were very impressive.

Next were the blowholes, I had received a text from my dad saying they had gone to these places when they did their cruise around Australia. The blowholes was a little hole when we got there but stand it front of it and look into the hole and wait until a big swell comes and hits the rocks and Wham! A sudden gust blows up through the hole and only sea mist, so it's like a massive blow dryer blowing your head off as you look. We all couldn't stop laughing because as it look calm and then suddenly your hair, face and clothing were getting blown away. We drive back after seeing all these and went for a drive along Bay View drive, which over looked Princess Royal Harbor and saw many exquisite yachts.

The start of the Wind Farm walk

Albany Wind Farm
We then headed over to the Albany wind farm, and along the track was a dugite poisonous snake and was approx 5 foot long. A local who showed us and knew what it was stopped us.  Glad it was slithering away into the bush and not towards us. The wind farm was interesting and we climbed the top of he hill to see the long line of propeller towers. Not all were spinning though, but we were still impressed. Well we had done all of these tourist sites in half a day and also wanted to go to the top of Mt. Clarence, which is actually in town.

We ended up having pizza on the top of Mt. Clarence and hoped to catch the sun going down but just missed it. It was a fair hike, actually steep, climbing up to the top. It was okay the pizza was still warm and by this stage it was dark but just so gorgeous with all the city lights. Back to our camp spot, which I forgot to mention that we decided to go with a cheaper park as we were only there for one night. We chose a spot down on the river in this park and we were the only tourists camping the rest were all permanent residents. We could hear ducks at night on the river. Straight to bed and I stayed up late typing out this blog, 2 hours longer then everyone else.
