Broome here we Come, via Derby

Prison Boab tree

Excited ,I see the sign

The pool at the Caravan Park, boys are under the waterfall
Arrived in Broome after we went via Derby, We stopped at Derby to go see the tide change on the wharf. This is where the highest tide changes in Australia are. We thought as it was lunchtime we’ll spoil ourselves and have chips down on the wharf. Wow, it was interesting seeing how fast that water flows and how yucky and muddy the water was. Oliver kept saying he wanted to swim there until he saw the sign saying” Salt Water Crocodiles inhibit these waters”, you won’t be swimming Oli. We ate chips on the wharf and instead of having seagulls wanting your chips and hanging around we had eagles and they hovered up above us. Mark through a chip in the air and they would fly by and catch it before it hit the ground, so of course everyone thought it was fun to now start throwing chips to see the eagles do there tricks. We didn’t buy a chip to see tricks, ha ha ha that rhymes. Back to the car and now we are headed to Broome, this is where I have always wanted to go, and now we are headed that way. I am so excited, I can hardly type. We were stopping here the longest 5 nights. We didn’t book so it was going to be potluck. I tried to book but they don’t take bookings. Stopped off to see the Prison Boab tree on our way. I started to sit on the edge of my seat as I saw the first sign, Cable Beach. 5 mins until we are there. Arrived at Cable Beach Caravan Park and, oh my, a queue out the front just to get into the park. Oh great, we aren’t going to get in. I jumped out and went straight in to reception. Yes vancancies for sure we have 485 sites, no problems. I had 4 sites, I could choose from and chose a lovely shaded one, on the edge of the park. We drove around to site 92 and it was a decent size but of course no grass, just that red dirt, that I am now sick of. All sites have no grass; it’s that time of the year and its busy too. We set up and of course kids want the swim. We set up the main bits and then Mark says you take the kids I’ll do the rest. He is wonderful and does everything, he’s been cooking most nights too, and sometimes I have to say, hang on I’ll do something. But then again I’m doing the washing and my job is to pack up the beds and set them up. We have now counted, we have set up camp a total of 20 times, so I guess we can do it now with our eyes closed. Just before I got Lily organized to swim this lady walks past, who is camped right next to us and looks twice at me, and I yelled NO WAY!!!, I couldn’t believe it, it was a lady I worked with a couple of years ago and she worked on Estee Lauder, Chris Green. She lives in Somerville, and had retired from Myer and then went to work down the pharmacy in Morington. Oh Wow, what are the chances of that happening in Broome, same Caravan Park and to be next door. So its now fun having her and her husband next-door to us. All set up and kids swimming then Mark goes does the shopping and then comes back and cooks. All I do is watch the kids in the pool, now bring them back to have dinner. This is marvelous, that’s why I thought I better write it down, because it will probably change when we go back home. We face timed Georgia tonight and I spoke to my mum as she rang. We walked down the beach as the beach was only 5 min walk and it was dark but as the moon is full could see quite a bit. At the life saving club, there was the most spectacular party going on with beautiful white fairy lights and white flags flying and the mood with the music was something out of a movie. Actually looking at the party reminded me of the show ‘Revenge’. I said to Mark, I’ve decided, I want my 40th birthday party here, and everyone can come up. I probably wouldn’t have many guests then, Mark had said. It was just perfect as it was a private function. Lovely moonlight walk, but we’ll see you tomorrow beach.
