A glorious sunset on Cable Beach
Got up this morning and thought, oh yes, we are in Broome, yes lets go, its going to be a great day, its Father’s day. Morning dad, we couldn’t get a present so a snickers bar and a card was what Mark got. We have this on going joke, if someone gets grumpy we say, ‘Do you need a snickers”, just like the ad on TV, you get a little grumpy when you haven’t had a snickers. Lovely, sit back Mark and I’ll actually make the first ever morning coffee for you, a Latte. Well we thought, lets do beach, lunch, pool, parade in town and staircase to the moon. A busy day ahead. Beach here we come, Mark and I looked at each other in awe when we both saw the beach for the very first time, look at the color its turquoise. Boys straight into the water and Lily straight into building with sand. Lily is not a swimmer at the beach, doesn’t like the waves. However the boys swam and swam and swam, 2hours non-stop. Mark and I lay there and actually said, this is just aweful, it’s too hard to take. We haven’t had a holiday like this before so, its just so exciting and to actually now be in the place I have always wanted to come is fantastic. After about 3 hours we went back for lunch and then swimming at the pool, kids never get sick of swimming or playing in sand. The pool area is all decked out with sun lounges and is a really decent size pool. The deepest is 1.8 meters deep. We only could stay awhile as a town parade was on at 4pm and were told to get there around 3.30pm. It’s a festival on in town and its like Moomba with floats. The staircase to the moon is also on, and that is one of Australia’s most spectacular sights that can be seen across the bay during a full moon and low tide. The reflection creates the illusion of a golden staircase to the moon. The parade started at 4pm and Mark wasn’t back from the car, getting us a blanket to sit on. Oh great, where is he, he’s been gone 40mins or more. I was thinking, a car or something has hit him, finally I rang him. I am in the visitors centre just looking a camel rides, and I’m like okay then. The parade was cute and mainly locals, but the kids enjoyed it. Saw the big Chinese dragon, which was good. After this we decided we would go back and have dinner so we could make it out to the staircase to the moon at 7.14pm,to be precise. As we were walking in the park, Dylan hands me a piece of paper and says’ Happy Birthday Mum’, and Marks filming me. I was like what the, what’s this. Mark said I know it’s early but we wanted to give this 40th birthday present to you while you’re here in the place you wanted to come to. Guess what, I was crying, I had that feeling you get when you get a surprise shock of” Will you marry me”, oh boy, I can’t read it, my eyes were welled up with tears. Lily starts crying because I was crying. Oliver pats me on the back for his concern.  I look down to see, he has booked me into something and its: to fly to the Horizontal Falls on our luxury turboprop Jet Seaplane and landing on calm waters of Talbot bay. To experience first hand the incredible tidal power of this natural phenomenon as you are taken through the falls having a cooked breakfast and flying 200 meters over the thousands of islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago, watch for whales, sea turtles, dugongs, sharks and crocodiles in their natural environments. Experience the thrill of swimming in our croc/shark free cage. (No way, am I doing that). Also fly over Cape Lévesque before heading south down the coast of the Dampier Peninsula over Lombadina, Beagle Bay, Camot Bay and Willie Creek. I will view Cable beach and Broome Township before landing.   We went down quickly to the sunset and had a lovely picture taken by Dylan, it was a romantic moment. Thank you to Mark and the kids for such a surprise, I look forward to telling everyone about my trip on Wednesday 5th Sept, so make sure your all thinking of me. I knew when I got out of bed today it was going to be special and it was, Happy Father’s Day and Happy Birthday to Me. X
