The top[ of Gunlom Falls |
Loving this holiday so much |
Mark enjoying the rock pool at the top of Gunlom Falls |
2nd Day in Kakadu was to explore Gunlom, this was a fair drive, and 1.45hrs to get there and we are still in the National Park. Gunlom has a plunge pool that you can have a swim in, but no way, I’m not swimming anywhere but a pool. There would only be fresh water crocs, if any, but it was safe to swim in. Dylan, Oliver and Mark all had a go. I guess its hard not to when its so hot. A small waterfall was flowing but nothing like what we have seen in Litchfield National Park. At the top of the waterfalls are some rock pools and swimming holes you can again swim in with a spectacular view, just by sitting in the pools. I was not feeling to well this day and just wanted to lie down and be cool. I just couldn’t do the walk up the rocky waterfall to the top. Mark said it was strenuous and had to carry Lily. I was left lying on a picnic blanket, which was lovely. They returned after a swim about 2 hours later. The road out of Gunlom was dirt and corrugated, very rugged and we saw a fresh water crocodile on the way out lying on the bank, not that far from where they swam. Another 1.45hour drive back and a dip in the pool at the Resort, more my style.
