Batchelor Day 1.

Awoke to Mark just about to cook Bacon and eggs, yummy. Today we were saying to ourselves, what day of the week is it? We just lose track after awhile. Today was a day to explore some of Litchfield National Park, starting with the Termite Mounds. There was a 7 metre tall termite mound and it was lucky because as we arrived so did the ranger so we went on a tour with him. He explained all about the termites and we even got a close up of them when the ranger poked a hole through the mound. Boys found this interesting. We then drove a further onto Walker Creek, where it was like a small rock pool river that flowed. No, I wasn’t swimming in that one, a little too small for my liking. Mark, Dylan and Oliver did, actually it’s hard to get Oliver out of any water. Caught up with the Fisher family again here and had a bite to eat. We carry our fridge with extra food, with us so we can eat while we are out, finding lots of gorgeous spots to seat and admire.  We back and drove by to the Wangi Falls, OMG!!, this was huge and it was like the public swimming pool with so many people swimming and jumping of rocks. This was it, I was determined to go in this time, and Lily and I sat on the edge and slowly got in. I had a paddle out and it was glorious, huge water falls cascade down the rocks and as you get closer you can’t even hear each other talk its so loud. Mark and Dylan were dare devils and were jumping off the rocks really high up. Stayed here awhile and then decide to head back. On the way back we went to the Buley waterhole, and yes another popular tourist and local spot for everyone to hang out in. This one was a bit different it was small waterholes that were really deep and then some were really shallow and lovely to just to sit in. It showed on the car that a 3.30pm, when we arrived there at the waterhole it was 34 deg. Yes swimming weather for sure. Boys just loved it, jumping and swimming and exploring.  We knew tonight we had to be back at camp to be ready to go out tonight to the local pub. On the way back into the Caravan Park, 2 Policeman stop our car for a breath test, Mark blows and he’s fine, no beer as yet. We drove in and then Mark thought, no bugger it, I’m telling these policemen about these 3 drunk guys at the waterhole, how they were mouthing off and couldn’t stand up straight. They were driving so, Mark told them. Once a policeman always a policeman.
The Fisher family know someone up here in this town Batchelor, and you wouldn’t believe it this guy who’s a local has a boss and he played footy with Mark. We were going to meet there for a catch up drink and we were having a meal. All of us arrived (10 People) and I think from the moment we walked in, we made the place look booked out. Batchelor not a huge town population 800. Lovely to have a pub meal, instead of camping food. Now these guys that live here, Marty and Ryan Martin (Straubs), are teachers and Marty runs the outdoor Ed program and this Ryan is the Batchelor local Principal. They asked us all to walk around the corner and come over to Ryan’s place. Great catch up on old times for the guys tonight. Very late night, as we had walked into the pub we had to walk home again too. 10.45pm, Lily was asleep so quickly and Oliver’s eyes were hanging out of his head. Bed, Bed,Bed.
A 7 metre termite mound. Its rock solid too.
