Darwin

Chandelier

The beautiful lights at the Darwin Festival

The kids, with the Fisher girls, Kiera and Jade
Rise and shine, time to move on to Darwin, a lot bigger city for sure. Well its only 1-hour drive, we leave at 9.30am and arrive at 10.30am exactly. The Fisher family was at the Shady Glen so we decided we would go there too. Well there was a queue of people wanting to see if they could get in too. I was about 5th in line but was lucky that Carmel Fisher had said we have friends coming. How’s this though, a caravan park that doesn’t take bookings, you have to just rock up and cross your fingers you get in. Hence why people were there early to try and get a site, however they need to check everyone out first. When I finally left the park’s office, there would have been 50 people waiting and I was in there waiting 45 mins. Someone needs to tell this park to get with the new age technology. Got a lovely spot diagonal to the Fisher family under a shady tree, but in the sand. We have had only 2 grassy sites since we started the trip almost 4 weeks ago, so it gives you an indication that we are very dusty indeed. Explored Darwin by going into town to have a look around and I was hoping to buy some shorts for myself. Guess what I only brought 1 pair of shorts away. Very touristy in the malls in town. Picked up some souvenirs, a real tourist we were. Back at camp, the kids all tried out the pool at the caravan park. The Darwin Festival is currently on and we decide with the fisher family to go into town to Bicentennial Park and check the entire goings on. We went to an area where there was food and a bar. Chandeliers hung from the trees and there were lines of lights hanging up everyway. There was a show on but it was $25 a head a theatrical show, we opted to have a few drinks in the beautiful lay out of lights. Another late night as we arrived home I decided to shower at 11pm, the start of many midges or sand fly bits were starting to come out on my legs. Oh no not again, I had them really bad in Queensland years ago.
