Oh wow, now I was the last to wake up just
before 8am, must have needed it. Our friends, the Fisher’s were all packed and
on the road again. For sure now, we don’t think we’ll see them again. We all
wave bye for now, safe trip. We actually head off on another walking adventure
to Ormistion Gorge, 11 kms away. I can’t explain some of these places, they are
just amazing, beautiful and it’s our own glorious country we are exploring. A
1.5-hour walk we took and, it was up and down rocks and we came across 2 models
having a photo shoot in bikinis. I can see why they shoot out here, as the
scenery is the perfect backdrop. We saw them from up above on a look out, Mark
asked the lady next to him, and can I borrow your binoculars. A Ha Ha. He
didn’t need them when we got down, as we had to walk straight past these
models. No it wasn’t Jennifer Hawkins, just some unknown models, looking skinny
in their bikinis. We saw a dingo, too drink from the waters edge and this was
just a beautiful spot. Went back
for lunch and then drove Hermansburg, on the way out we dropped into Albert
Namitjara house, who was a famous Aboriginal artist. It was a 2-bedroom house
that her shared with his wife and 7 children. Hermansburg wasn’t too far and we
just drove around and saw the Aboriginal housing and where there was an
Aboriginal mission. We thought, yes, lets attempt to go to Palm Valley, which
is a 4WD only track and extremely rough. Yes, we did have enough petrol, this
time. We started the journey until we saw a sign the read “Allow 3 hours for
this track to Palm Valley”; well it was already 3.30pm so that meant like
getting back in the dark. No-way, are we going to do it. The votes were in and
the majority ruled, we are not going. Turned around and drove back, passing
many Aboriginals driving and even stopping to take a photo of a burned out car
out in the middle of no-where, There are many of these around, I guess the
Aboriginals just dump them and burn them. After dinner back at Glen Helen, we
decided to go over to the bar and bistro area, where a guy is playing music. We
managed to get the comfy couch seats so we could watch this guy play. It was
like being in a movie, a little country bar, so cosy and not a lot of people
but the atmosphere was a real country feel. This guy, Chris Aroston, played so
many instruments like the guitar, banjo type guiter, the violin and even the
spoons. It was relaxing sitting back enjoying a drink. Kids loved it too; especially
as we were about to leave they played a song where everyone sang along to it,
even us.
