A bit of a sleep in today, well for Oliver
definitely waking at 9am. This was
it, we were saying goodbye to the Fisher family as they leave for Darwin. They
are on a tighter schedule as they are doing this trip in 9 weeks; we have an
extra 3 weeks. We will explore more of Litchfield National Park today; there is
a lot to do. Left camp a little later than normal, and our 1st stop
was to Florence Falls. There was a picnic area so we carted our lunch down
beside a little creek with the cascading falls and ate first. We thought we’d
try a new strategy with having lunch first therefore everyone has a full
stomach and there is no whining and complaining. I think it worked, a happy
camp as we moved on and actually walked to Florence Falls, down 135 steps and
all I could think of was, have to come back up these too, Down the bottom of
the falls many people were getting in and having a swim but the look on
everyone was a little shocked as it was cold. Oliver, well straight in didn’t
care and Mark and Dylan took awhile. As for Lily and I we weren’t going in.
Yes, there was other way to walk back and it was along the shady creek walk.
This was like walking through a rainforest, with ferns and butterflies, just
beautiful. An enjoyable walk back and didn’t have to do 135 steps back. We find
it difficult after awhile, Lily asked to be picked up and she’s no feather
anymore. We are doing a lot of walking and her little legs are trying to keep
up, so I do feel for her. Went back to the Buley Waterholes as this was a lot
of fun and the boys loved it. Lily not 100% today coming down with a cold, so
she wasn’t keen on swimming, good idea. It was fun watching the locals do back
flips into this waterhole. Early
night off to do more tomorrow.
