Mataranka to Batchelor

How do some people get moving so quick in the morning, we think we are wonderful when we are ready by 8.30/9am? Oh that’s right we have 3 children to get moving too. The Fisher family took off before us today and we would meet up in Batchelor. 9.30am we headed today and we thought, well its not far so we’ll take our time and see some sights on the way. We stopped off at Cutta Cutta Caves and drove in to see that there was a tour on at 11am, and we only had to wait 20mins. Yes lets do it. we are here so why not. Wow, how interesting was this to go 150 meters underground, and they weren’t wet caves they were dry caves, home to bats, snakes and spiders. As we went further I not the caves the temperature rose and got quite humid. These caves were estimated to be 20 million years old. At some of the stages throughout the caves we had to squeeze through small openings to get further into see more. At the end of the tour the tour guide asked if we all wanted to experience total darkness and what it would be like. Okay, lets do it, quickly. All lights off, and what shines is my glow in the dark watch. I quickly hide it and wow, its scary. LIGHTS ON PLEASE!!   A well worth tour, we thought which went for an hour. Moving right on to Katherine, which was 30 mins away. This is a big town, Katherine. We find the parking area for campers and caravans and walk over to the shopping centre. Woolworth’s shopping and a treat for everyone lunch at the bakery. It was so busy in Woolworth’s that the lines were 5 deep with people with trolleys. Okay fully stocked again and on our way. The Fisher family was already there in Bacthelor and at the big 4, so we headed the same direction. Didn’t realize though it was another 2.5 hours, oh no, it was already 2.30pm. Spoke to Wendy on the phone on the way and it was good to have a quick chat. Arrived to such a heat wave hitting around 34 deg, and we got a site right next to the Fishers. Oliver and Lily went straight in the pool for a refresh. All set up by 6pm and some dinner and then watching footy tonight
